We’re proud that Kendal is a welcoming place for all who want to live, work, study or visit. To celebrate diversity within our community, the second Kendal Unity Festival will take place on Saturday 22nd June 2019.The main programme will take place between 10am and 4pm with music performances and entertainment from around the world taking place at Abbot Hall Park. The festival has been created to coincide with National Refugee Week and the Great Get Together activities marking the life of late Jo Cox, MP.

In its first year, the festival will offer:

  • A unique opportunity for voluntary and community groups to showcase their work and share information about their services and projects
  • A chance for the Kendal community and wider visitors, to learn more about the groups taking part, though free and short taster ‘feel good’ workshops
  • An opportunity to learn a new language or skill
  • Entertaining performances from musicians, poets and dancers from diverse local communities
  • The festival aims to:
  • Support projects and initiatives to build community cohesion
  • Promote mutual understanding and celebrate the diversity of people and cultures in Kendal
  • Empower marginalised groups and communities living in Kendal by highlighting their issues as well as their contributions to the local economy and culture
